Review

In a distant galaxy, the world of Thundera is in crisis. The planet's structure has become unstable and is near collapse. With their destruction imminent, Thundera's denizens--known as the Thundercats--escape in a spaceship and plot a course for a new home. While in transit, the Thundercats are attacked by evil mutants and their craft is irreparably damaged. Jaga, the eldest Thundercat, sacrifices himself in order to pilot the ship safely to its destination: Third Earth.

Ever since cartoon classics have made it to DVD, Thundercats was one series I eagerly awaited. It summed up my childhood!

And now i have series one and wow, its still amazing. Okay, so some of the messages are aimed at the juvenile audiences but who can deny the brilliant animation, the fierce voices overs and the engaging storylines.

All the episodes, all the nostalgic memories and some special features make this a great boxset to own. With Thundera in ruins, the Thundercats move to third earth where they encounter the slithery mutants and the powerful Mumm-Ra!

There's the cunning kittens, the mighty Panthr-o, the quick Cheetarah, the humourous Snarf, the young leader Lion-O and my favourite, Tygra. What's good about this series is that it combines mythology and in return we get an array of weird but wonderful creatures and villians.

Go on, indulge. Somewhere you'll find an episode you'll be amazed you remember word-for-word.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Ok i brought season 1 parts 1 and 2 seperatly from another website as it was exclusive to them, and i loved every second.

Thundercats stands the test of time and most notable for it animation which was way ahead of it time and uses many Japanese influeneces that are so prominant in todays cartoons.

Thundercats does not feel dated like He-Man and is not full of animations errors like Transformers, and does preach in a obviuos way. Many episodes have messages and lessons of life aimed at the kids of the 80s, but they are so subtle and yet the point is made.

I love the way that even though the stories are self contained - nothing is forgotten between episodes and many times other epsiodes or charcters are referenced making you really feel like you are emerced in the Thundercats world.

The extras are crap - even the documentary in which a "super fan" cant even remember Slthyes name properly but you will not be buying this for the extras.
