Synopsis: Michel Ronay, a Marseille taxi driver, and his fiance, Josette, head north to Le Touquet to start a new life together. Michel's cousin, Henri, has invited him to start a business providing services to tourists. When they arrive in Le Touquet they are housed in Henri's deceased mother's house which is in need of repairs and Uncle Pascal takes on the work with disastrous results. Meanwhile, Michel meets Madame Christiane, a wealthy customer at Henri's shoe shop and they begin a torrid affair. They rendezvous on the secluded beach or in her luxurious house when her husband is in Paris on business.Michel's attempts to start the new business are fraught with difficulty when Madame Christiane insists on being a partner and Henri absolutely forbids her involvement especially as she has snared Michel into gambling at the Casino. Nevertheless, Michel proceeds and contacts a boat hire concern in Boulogne as well as a coach operator, but everything ends in disaster. After a fight in Henri's office with Madame Christiane's husband and a row with Henri, Michel decides to leave with Josette and return to Marseille.
